After many parties and cries rang in the new millennium, have cleared the smoke and global warming to the extent that some of us know so that we are finally in a new age as well. Just as in Egypt, Moses and Jesus' Rome, we are here in America to change the epicenter of the world paradigm shift in which our technology (like the rest of the world) begins a state of long-term downtrend. As the only superpower in the world, we stand facing a number of difficult decisionsto that age where humanity will suddenly be favored over inventions.
At the heart of most world-shaking events is a prophet. There are some, which is the age of the dead prophet claim citing the lack of figures from the Bible for about two thousand years. But the Bible, because it may be a conservative tome as well as the French dictionary, not as obvious as the Prophet Mohammed to take and, more recently, in the twentieth century, its share of prophets: it is,to test Einstein and the Ayatollah Khomeini, as well as more obvious examples, such as Lenin, Trotsky, Gandhi and King. Barack Obama could be the first prophet of the 21st Century, it is too early to say.
A prophet is a driving force. Whether his inspiration comes directly from God or a spiritual nature, is the prophet in a position to the forces that move humanity and in the same direction to steer. Unfortunately, the prophet, he or she is usually well ahead of its time. While this is necessary, with effectto change the resulting upheaval shows usually fatal to the Prophet.
We are in the United States at a major intersection at the beginning of this new age. There are prophets, they are almost inevitable at a time of change. We certainly have a wide range to choose from, from ML King to Leon Trotsky in our century. Our problem is the Prophet (s) to hear if Washington to live up to the old proverb: "First in war, first in peace, and most recently in the (national)League. "
We could the historical prophets into two categories: the approximation of the peaceful and warlike, with the warlike nature is much more common than peace. Moses is one of the first. And the killing of an Egyptian in his youth, he simply sent the army of Pharaoh, and fought his way around the Sinai Peninsula. King David and Muhammad are clear examples of warriors, their kingdoms were on much more force than finesse.
Other biblical prophets are more difficult to grasp. In addition to predicting that swords "pruning hooks will be beaten," says Isaiah war between Israel and Assyria, Israel and Babylon, and the devastation of the world (Chapter 24). His prediction of a bloody future is more common sense than its opposite, an eternal peace. If the story of King David is pretty much the Middle Eastern countries fought each other constantly. Jeremiah and Ezekiel and other biblical prophets, even ahead of several wars between Israeland his enemies, as well as peace in the distant future.
Jesus was probably the most peace-loving prophet up to his time. Although he did not predict the destruction of the Second Temple, he preached turning the other cheek and forgive seventy times seven other times, and the waiver of claims. His message of personal indulgence, while difficult, if not impossible to follow, literally, has, through the thousands of years of war followed, more than survived as an ideal than a normLiving.
Perhaps we have an intersection in the manner of the Prophet, that we help to arrive, lift celebrities. The twentieth century has seen its share of both peace, love and war prophet. Mahatma Gandhi, a Hindu, however, their pressure on the teachings of Jesus, as the Rev. Martin Luther King, Jr., Can the Government of Obama have been possible without the martyrdom of the King? Maybe not, and probably I would agree king trade. On the other hand, the power of Trotsky, and HitlerDeep resonance with their target audiences, but only for a relatively short time.
In our era, the US-Iraq war was in the beginning very popular here at home. But his popularity, not least on a small reflection and knowledge about the dark sides of the conflict. To make a "war for peace" to capture a slogan signs of age prophet, not quite the American people so far into the 21st Century.
Even if we dismiss Bush as a prophecy of the war, we should as human beingsFace some not quite so grim realities. Warfare, once considered relatively safe on the global stage is no longer so. Nations like North Korea and Iran are flirting with nuclear weapons, with who knows what the country as a subject of their "affection". While we try to technical these countries' limited power through sanctions, we can not really force their hand, without declaring war on them. While we explain the basis for war on Iraq was much more than this thin, not even the moreconservative forces in our country are in favor of another devastation of a small country whose internal politics something with our own opinion.
But sanctions work in the long run. Gandhi used a boycott of European goods, which to weaken the British rule in India to stay. ML King used a boycott for the same reason. But to this day to appear, with nuclear disaster in the balance sheet was the prophet and more popular. Why is this so?
1. Prophet of peace may seem wimpy. Nothing stirs the bloodlike a real saber-rattle. Peace prophets speak of concessions, referenda, marches, fasts and prayer seem very tame in comparison. We as people need to refine our tastes, which seems really weak and strong can be dangerous.
2. Prophet of peace take victory for too long. Gandhi and King's victories each took a couple of generations, and of course King was not long enough to see Obama. Jesus' spiritual victory took hundreds of years. But those victories seem durable: Indiahas a thriving country today, we finally have a black president, and nearly one billion Christians covers the entire globe, and many disciples of Jesus (see Gandhi and others) do not call themselves Christian.
3. Prophet of peace do not go far enough. This was a common criticism of Jesus, King and Gandhi, even Gandhi was killed by a member of his own religion for promising too many concessions to the Muslims. And Judas betrayed Jesus. Also, the fighters in the camp of the Prophet peace beHave a look at the long term. With a little patience, a prophet of peace can be successful. Anything less than that in these times can Crapshooter nuclear.
Yes, in our new age, it seems like the resulting global interdependence speak loudly and with a small stick. An act of war can totally unforeseen damage leads to a totally innocuous part of the world. Who knows, maybe Bush invaded Iraq in part because he knew that they carry no weapons of mass destruction.
Yes, itappears in the New Age, that we need prophets of peace than their counterparts in the war. Unfortunately, we have far fewer examples of the Prophet peace be drawn, but the ones we have are very striking, well-documented and highly successful over the long term.
Jesus began with a handful of apostles and has incorporated to that, worldwide, in nearly a billion followers. These are the trailers which can form the basic components of a New Age prophet.
Regardless of the realities of theJesus' divinity, he stands on, as the most important of his era peacenik. His philosophy was so far ahead of his time, he said that confusion, and even his apostles, to say nothing of Rome or his own Jewish people. Even two thousand years after his death, his policies hold out the other cheek and refused to take action against our enemies seem to be too theoretical, another world.
But it seems that turning the other cheek major impact on the world stage today who can. We would have been spared a bloodbath if the U.S. andits allies had refused to respond to Saddam's nose leaf through the UN sanctions. It seems that he would be in line with most of them, we think that might have something by our spies and technology was the nose. Saddam was only bluffing true face, playing chicken with the U.S. makes it right just because we do not like them, had to enter and almost infinitely more military power? Have you lying down, our own people about the size of the cache of Saddam's make it a moral blow itgone?
Most people would agree in hindsight: it would have been better to turn the other cheek. Saddam Hussein was a problem only because we have a problem, our instincts of Hollywood, the best of us. Compared to this tactic, the models are the center of the 20th Century: Mahatma Gandhi and Martin Luther King Jr. In fact, slammed the UN's policy of sanctions against Iraq from that of Gandhi and King. Whether they have worked against Iraq in the long run, it is impossible to say, but Gandhinon-violent practices against a much stronger opponent (UK) carried them out and embarrassed her in India, the granting of independence in 1946. While it is true that Saddam Hussein was on display, the UN rules in his final years as dictator, had the UN not to their penalties and, in fact, asked Bush not relinquished to conquer. But again, the "cowardly" manner was discarded in favor of violence.
While the jury is still out, so it seems that would be a peaceful way better proven. The trick here is to get enoughPeace-lovers in force, something like an invasion is never brought to the table. We must encourage the peace-loving people, from primary school upwards. The old models will only lead to a nuclear catastrophe on a scale not seen since 1945.
So what we must seek in our leaders and people? It seems that the Judeo-Christian world which are most likely to maintain them, at least in the short term, although the example of Gandhi shows us that where adequate socialand political turmoil there is a fertile ground for the seeds of peace.
And how do we find our prophets of today? It seems they must have at least seven characters, a drop leader of Peace:
1. The moral: It's not that he / she must be a vestal virgin, or have no feeling at all, our New World Leaders can not be a slave to their passions. Fast Gandhi when times got tough, compared to Jesus. While the purity of the answer may not be hungry for the next AmericanPresident, who may report an incident to another. A prophet of peace must be above suspicion.
2. Consistency: Double treatment will get us nowhere, if a prophet of peace has to be done in intensive negotiations with a volatile country. Double-click brings about the war (see Hitler). Gandhi once said: "If the mother of all violence." (Young India, 05-20-1925) Again, the total consistency is just as impossible as always amuse the other cheek, but with a party of apples and orangessecondly, a peacenik get nowhere.
3. Diplomacy: A bull in a china shop will not work here. Prophet of peace, all their other properties as well as extreme sensitivity in dealing with potentially warring parties.
4. Finesse: See above. A little trick-of-hand and play poker skills would be good for a prophet.
5. Intelligence: The History of the diplomats, who is treacherously betrayed by statesmen Legion.
6. Vision: This term almost goes hand in hand with"prophetic." Unfortunately, it is not easy to tell a long-term thinkers from a short-term, in the heat of the moment.
7. Breadth of scope: That's what determined a rough artists from a detail person. This aspect can not be sold short, people are so thoroughly asked today that are widely Brushers almost non-existent. A recent example of a successful broad-brusher see Ronald Reagan. For a catastrophic one, see Hitler.
One might expect the next great prophet of peacecome from Muslim region. There is pressure from social unrest, and the ground seems ripe. As Gandhi said, almost a century ago: "The sword is the symbol of Islam. But Islam was born in an environment where the sword was still the supreme law. The message of Jesus has been found to be ineffective because the environment was unprepared to receive them. So with the message of the Prophet. The sword is too much in evidence among Muslims. "(Young Germany, 12-30-1926). Perhaps the Muslims, are finallywilling to come a great figure of peace in their midst.
If such a change occurs in the Muslim world, it is unlikely to be easy. Consider the Jewish people two thousand years ago still longing for the military victories of King David and second-class status in the Roman Empire subjected. Although Jesus has nothing to allay their military wishes people still than for him, the son of David to the last week of his life. Of course, Jesus went to an incredibleExtremes to prove to his pacifism, and many of the people (the more militant of his party) took him for a sellout to Rome. As with Gandhi, Jesus paid the highest price for an attitude that did not involve violent fringe elements very popular.
Of course, my examples of prophets are somewhat limited: they are all men. During the review, I strongly believe that women are naturals for all my seven essential characteristics. The prophetic vocation is one of many in which women have been neglected andunderestimated since the beginning of time.
Women certainly have an inherent advantage over men in the categories of diplomacy and finesse. This is not an idle remark sexist, women's inherent physical weakness makes them much more practiced in the gentle art. What we really need now the women are seen on each side of a dispute and to appreciate their own overtures.
We need to promote, as a nation and to respect them (women and men's) call for the prophecy of peace. Theirpolitical and diplomatic training should not be made at the expense of their morals. Someone pure spirit is recognized as a prophet, much lighter than the bat on the street. The pressure on these neophytes should be set politically, not morally. While the monetary reward should be to put a carrot in front of these prophets, one should not be surprised if they refuse.
The prophets must be substantially reduced before a world that is less technology is in fact part of the bargainThe new era. You have to do with the frustrations of people who do not expect to wait so long, or be dictated by a cowardly person. But it is only with these seven features, the prophet of peace societies in the long term future.
